Zomato responds after Bengaluru resident finds dead cockroach in food

In a distressing incident that has raised concerns about food safety, a Bengaluru resident named Harshitha had a nasty shock when she discovered a dead cockroach in her food ordered through Zomato. The food delivery company has responded to the concerning incident.

Harshitha took to X and shared a video of the dead insect on a plate of chicken fried rice she ordered from Zomato. The dish was delivered from ‘Tapri By The Corner’, a restaurant located in Koramangala 5th Block.

The shocking discovery was made shortly after the food was delivered to Harshitha, who had been expecting a pleasant meal. Instead, she was greeted by the sight of a cockroach within the rice.

She tagged Zomato, its CEO Deepinder Goyal, and the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, highlighting the severity of the issue. “Absolutely disgusted with my order! This is completely unacceptable and unhygienic. Need an immediate resolution,” read the caption.

Zomato’s response to the incident was swift, as they reached out to Harshitha via social media. “That’s really unexpected, Harshitha. We can understand how you must be feeling. Could you please help us with your registered contact number/order ID via a private message so that we can look into this immediately?” Zomato replied.

This is not the first time a Zomato customer found an unwanted addition in their food. A customer from Hyderabad was disgusted to find a dead lizard in a packet of biryani that was ordered from Zomato as well.
