The Redmi 13C was recently launched in India and it is one of the most affordable 5G phones in the country. The new 5G phone is effectively available in India for Rs 9,999. While the new budget phone is similar to the older Redmi 12C model, there are changes in some areas. You get a better display, a refreshing design, and a 5G chipset. Here is a quick comparison of the Redmi 13C with the older Redmi 12C.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Price in India

The new Redmi 13C 5G has been announced in India with a starting price of Rs 10,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. There is also a Rs 1,000 discount offer on select bank cards, which will effectively bring down the price to Rs 9,999 for this 5G phone.

The Redmi 12C 4G, on the other hand, was launched earlier this year for Rs 9,999 and it is now selling for Rs 7,999 via Flipkart.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Design

The Redmi 13C comes with a new design. It has a boxy design with a slightly broad form factor to offer a bigger canvas to people for viewing content. One will see beautiful geometric patterns when the light hits the back panel and also a shimmery effect, along with different shades of green-yellow. There is no prominent camera module at the back and the sensors are directly incorporated, making the rear panel look neat. The handset is also dust and splash-resistant.

The Redmi 12C was also launched with a different design. It is good to see that the company is not boring people by slapping the same design every year, even on its budget phones. This is commendable. It offers a rectangle camera module at the back, which has two sensors. The edges are curved for a better hold on phone.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Display

The Redmi 12C features almost the same screen. It offers a 6.71-inch HD+ display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio and 500nits of peak brightness. With the new version, Redmi has made some cosmetic changes in terms of refresh rate, brightness support and others.

The Redmi 13C features a 6.74-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 600nits of peak brightness. The panel operates at HD+ resolution. It sports a teardrop notch on the front and a Gorilla Glass 3 coating on the screen.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Chipset

The new Redmi phone has a 5G chipset and the older version offers a 4G one. The Redmi 13C is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, whereas the Redmi 12C features a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. The latest Redmi budget phone is running on Android 13, while the 12C was announced with Android 12. Do keep in mind that the latest Android 14 OS is already out and the brand isn’t offering the 13C with it out of the box.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Camera

For photography, the new model has two cameras at the back. The setup features a 50-megapixel primary camera which is capable of capturing detailed and colourful shots in daylight. Additionally, there is also a secondary camera for depth sensing. On the front, selfies are managed by a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The front camera boasts of an f/2.2 aperture, promising to take decent portraits for users.

The Redmi 12C, on the other hand, had a similar camera setup at the back and front as well. So, there are no major changes in this area.

Redmi 13C 5G vs Redmi 12C: Battery, fast charging

The battery is also the same as the old model. You get a 5,000mAh battery under the hood and the company only bundles a 10W charger with both the devices. But, Redmi has provided support for 18W fast charge. So people who have a fast charger of more than 18W will be able to quickly top up the battery of the budget Redmi phones.
