‘Most corrupt CM in India’: Rahul Gandhi attacks Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma after FIR lodged against Congress MP | India News

NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi slammed Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during an address in Assam’s Barpeta. The congress leader claimed that the Assam CM is the “most corrupt CM in the country.”
He said, “The chief minister of Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma) spreads hate all the time and takes away your (referring to the public) lands. He is the most corrupt CM in India.I don’t know where he got the idea that he can scare Rahul Gandhi. File as many cases as you want against me. I am not afraid. I am not scared of BJP or RSS.”

Rahul’s attack comes following a FIR registered against him by the Guwahati City Police for assault on government servants during the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Guwahati on January 23.

During his address Rahul also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the PM hasn’t visited Manipur even after months of violence.
“PM still hasn’t visted Manipur it has been 6-7 months, people have died, villages burnt but still the PM has not gone to Manipur,” said the Congress MP.
On Monday night, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah, and expressed grave concerns about the security lapses faced by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam.
In the letter Kharge requested the home minister’s “intervention” stating that, “Despite all of the instances lis ad above, and the presence of ample evidence available in the public domain, none of the miscreants have been arrested and in many instances investigation has not been initiated.”
During his address in Barpeta, Rahul Gandhi also said that the BJP is trying to divide the nation on the basis of religion and caste.
He said, “The BJP tries to divide the nation on the basis of religion, caste, and language, but we (Congress) strive to unite the nation. Bharat is a country of love, not hate.”
After Assam, the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is scheduled to enter West Bengal on Thursday.
