Fake Pakistani propaganda account impersonating Danish woman suspended

A Pakistani propaganda account operating under the fake identity “Rebecca Smith” and spreading fabricated narratives against India, including misinformation on Operation Sindoor, has been suspended by X (Twitter) following consistent reporting by our team, INDIAN CYBER DEFENDER.

This Pakistani account was spreading fabricated anti-India narratives while impersonating a Danish geopolitics expert named “Rebecca Smith,” using an AI-generated profile picture. Notably, no recognized female expert by this name exists in Denmark.

The account used AI-generated or digitally altered profile images, seemingly modified from photographs of either Australian judge Ruth McColl or UK-based educator Amanda Kirby. There is no credible evidence of any Danish geopolitical expert named “Rebecca Smith” matching this profile.

Several instances highlighted the account’s propaganda activities. It consistently pushed anti-India disinformation sourced from Pakistani narratives and aligned ecosystems. For example, it falsely claimed that Iran had arrested 73 spies, mostly Indians, working for Israel, a claim not supported by any credible source and proven to be fake news.

The account also spread a false claim that components of India’s Russian-made S-400 air defense system were destroyed during recent tensions. In reality, this narrative is entirely baseless and fabricated, originating from Pakistani sources without any credible evidence. These claims were already debunked by PIB Fact-Check desk.

The account also misused unrelated images to spread disinformation. It falsely claimed that Iran had arrested Indians spying for Israel by sharing photos of 15 men previously alleged to be Mossad agents, originally published by Turkish media in October 2021. Another image showing a man being dragged was likewise unrelated and had no connection to Indians.

During the G7 Summit 2025 in Canada, the account circulated an image to falsely suggest that Prime Minister Modi was excluded from the G7 leaders’ group photo. In fact, the image only featured representatives of the G7 member nations, while India, attending as a guest invitee was not part of that specific shot.

This is not an isolated case; multiple fake profiles impersonating foreign experts are being operated by the broader Pakistani propaganda network and involved in anti-India propaganda.

At INDIAN CYBER DEFENDER, we continuously monitored the account’s activities and reported them to X (Twitter), ultimately leading to the permanent suspension of this fake profile.
