A village guard was murdered in Bihar’s Khagaria district late Wednesday night, with police suspecting liquor smugglers whose illicit trade the deceased had resisted in the dry state, report Kshitiz & NP Thakur. The body of Ghanshyam Malakar,58, with injury marks was found in a garbage pit near Tilathi village in the Beldaur police station area of the district around 7.30am on Thursday.
Khagaria SP Amitesh Kumar said, Malakar’s family suspects the sons of a local liquor smuggler, Narayan Mukhiya, to be behind the murder.
“Narayan and his grandson Chandan were arrested from the village with 50 litres of country liquor in July this year. Narayan’s sons Pappu and Kundan are absconding,” the SP said.
“Raids are on to arrest Pappu and Kundan,” he added.
